The Scottsboro Rotary Club

Our speakers at Rotary this week are Jonathan Colvin and Dusty Roden.  Jonathan is principal at Bridgeport Middle School and Dusty is principal at North Sand Mountain.

They’ll give us an update on the Z-space computer, a computer that allows students to perform science, math, and other activities in 3-D.  A donation from the IMPACT Learning Center helped fund this exciting new tool for Jackson County students.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held May 30, following the Memorial Day program at Collins Intermediate School, for the Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County. The park is across from the fairgrounds adjacent to the Army tank, on Heroes Drive.

The Scottsboro Rotary Club gave out over $20K in scholarships this year.   The 2016 recipients were treated to lunch.   They include: Bailey Cole, Charleigh Bailey, Sonni Hood, Clay Gaddis, Larissa Wolfe, Sarah Mayhew, Kinsley Maynor, Stephen Jackson, Paul Chubb, John Breland, Jessie Hastings, Alora Terrell, and Logan Cowan.

Jonathan Campbell, county engineer will be talking about county roads and the proposed new gas tax.

We will not have our regular meeting, November 11th so members may attended activities honoring those who served.

 

TVA Economic Development in coordination with the Jackson County Economic Development Authority are hard at work preparing the site.   It’s been said that we are moving from producing Megawatts to Megabytes with this exciting effort.
